2day was funky! I don't read manga often but 2day I read thru all of Paradise Kiss. It was gud; I think I will read Nana next as I thought Yazawa's writing and illustration style was cool. Up till this point I hadn't read a fashion manga b4 n it made me feel real bored w my current wardrobe lolz. I absolutely adored Isabella's whole aesthetic and her dresses were just amazing. I need 2 find sum fashion students in London who can make me Isabella's Victorian dresses just like George did! I liked the ending, it felt very grounded and real. Either way 4 the 1st manga I've read in like 2 years it was pretty great. Plus Isabella's representation as a trans woman wasn't all that bad by the end. I tried watching an episode of the anime after I finished the manga but I just don't find anime all that appealing... maybe its just a bad adaptation? There have been very few animes I've actually ever liked: Death Note when I was young and then Azumangah Diaoh like 2 years ago when I watched it after it blew up on tiktok (poser ik ik >.<). Perhaps I just need 2 watch more, time will tell.
Besides that I listened 2 4 new albums 2day. Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective, Winks & Kisses by Airiel, O by Ichiko Aoba and right now as I type this I am listening 2 You Won't Get What You Want by Daughters, which is an album I listened 2 about 3 years ago, didn't get at all and am now revisiting with a more refined pallette. As 4 the other 3 albums, I enjoyed MPP, it felt like a more interesting and less poppy version of Passion Pit (which I'm sure just made a million music nerds explode w rage). Winks & Kisses was okay I don't think it stood out that much in terms of shoegaze but I find that most shoegaze ends up sounding fairly similar - a reliable if repetitive and overdone sound (even by the early 2000s). O was good, although I prefer Ichiko's later work (the 2020 and 2025 albums). I will probably listen 2 more of Animal Collective's discography as its one I've managed 2 avoid all this time sumhow. Daughters' sound in YWGWYW is interesting, its quite grand and I think a bit self indulgent at points but it works very well. It feels like a looming presence. As I was seeking the album out I read sum things about the lead singer having accusations and although idk anything about them I'm not surprised he does by the way he looks xD.
In summary, 2day was a great day 4 media consumption! I'm sure I will not have as much time 2 consume all this media wen I'm at uni in London :(. Anywho, talk 2 u lates. byesy byess!
Quick addendum I just read the stuff on Alexis Marshall of Daughters holy shit. Its a gud album but my god he is evil. Fuck that guy 4 real
